Ron Schranz, CPA, CVA
Managing Member & Director of Accounting & Auditing Services
Ron is Burt & Company’s Director of Accounting & Auditing Services and Managing Member of the firm, bringing over 25 years of accounting experience to Burt & Company, both public and private in depth. Ron earned an MS in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island and holds a current New Mexico CPA license and a certification as a Certified Valuation Analyst. He is active in many professional and charitable organizations and is a past President of the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Albuquerque Kiwanis Club.
Tammy S. Jaramillo
Partner & Director of Administration
Tammy is Burt & Company’s Director of Administration and brings over 25 years of administrative and human resource related experience to the firm. Tammy is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the College of Santa Fe with a BBA degree in Management. Tammy is involved in many professional, business, civic, and charitable organizations including her past service as a Junior Achievement volunteer, Past-President for the Human Resource Manager’s Association (HRMA) of New Mexico, and Past-Chair of the Albuquerque Economic Development Ambassador Committee. Tammy joined the partner group of Burt & Company in 2021.
Matthew Pacheco, CPA, AEP
Matt has been with Burt & Company for more than 10 years where oversees the tax department. He specializes in corporate and personal tax as well as business succession planning. He recently completed all requirements for the Accredited Estate Planner certification. He graduated from the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Business with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. Matt is a Certified Public Accountant in New Mexico and is actively involved with the New Mexico State Society of CPAs and is also a current board member of the New Mexico Estate Planning Council. Matt is a graduate of the inaugural New Mexico Society of CPAs Leadership Institute. Matt joined the partner group of Burt & Company CPAs in 2021.
Misty Schuck, CPA, CGMA, CFE, CGFM, CICA
Misty has been with the firm for over 10 years, and oversees the Business Services Department. She has more than 30 years of experience in the private sector and in public accounting. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. Misty is a Certified Public Accountant in New Mexico, a member of the New Mexico Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, New Mexico Chapter of Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), National Association of Government Accountants, Association of Government Accountants – NM & Albuquerque Chapters and the Institute for Internal Controls.
Misty is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Internal Control Auditor (CICA). Misty has extensive involvement in public service and currently serves as a Director on the Board of NM Society of CPAs, Director and Vice President on the Board of the New Mexico Chapter of ACFE, Board Treasurer of Storehouse West, National Council of Chapters Representative and Area 2 Director of AGA, Board Treasurer for NM Chapter of AGA, Council for the Advancement of Women of AGA, Financial Standards Reviewer/Grant Panelist for the United Way of Central NM, Past President of the New Mexico Chapter of Association of Governmental Accountants (AGA), Former Treasurer of Blackout Theatre and Former Board Treasurer of Albuquerque Casa, Inc. Misty joined the partner group of Burt & Company CPA in 2021.

Robert D. Austin, CPA
Director of Taxation
Bob is Burt & Company’s Director of Taxation and a former member of the firm. He brings over 30 years of public accounting experience to Burt & Company’s management team. Bob earned his BBA in Management from New Mexico State University and holds a current New Mexico CPA license. Bob has been an active member of many professional and charitable organizations and is past chair of the New Mexico Society of CPAs.
Steve Berry, CPA, CFP
Steve Berry was a partner at Gordon and Hale, PC CPAs and joined our team when Burt & Company CPAs acquired the Santa Fe-based firm. Steve earned his Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University, became a CPA in 1982, and achieved his CFP designation in 1987. Steve has over 44 years of experience serving small businesses and individuals in Texas and New Mexico.
Dennis R. Burt, CPA
Dennis is the firm’s founder and has over 30 years of public accounting experience, most of which has been as an owner of his own firms. In addition, Dennis has held ownership in many other types of corporations. He holds an MBA in Business Management from Eastern New Mexico University and a BBA in Accounting from the University of New Mexico. A licensed CPA since 1974, Dennis has been active in many professional and charitable organizations for over 30 years serving as the former Board Chair for the Mortgage Finance Authority of New Mexico.
Jack Gordon, CPA
Jack was the founding and managing parter of Gordon & Hale, PC, CPAs. He joined our team when Burt & Company acquired the Santa Fe based CPA firm. Jack earned his Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University and obtained his CPA license in 1975. He’s been serving clients — individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations — for more than 45 years.
Cheryl Silcox, CPA.CITP
Accounting & Auditing Manager
Cheryl is the firm’s Audit & Accounting Department Manager. She has over 20 years of experience in the public accounting realm, which includes 4 years in which she owned her own consulting firm. Her expertise is in auditing, accounting, and financial statements and disclosures with extensive experience in non-profit, governmental, yellow book, and single audit, auditing and financial reporting. Cheryl is a technical speaker for the United Way Center for Nonprofit Excellence.
